Tasmania is booming under the majority Hodgman Liberal Government.
Yesterday’s labour force statistics from the ABS confirm full-time jobs growth is continuing to strengthen, with 2,700 created since October last year.
This is a fantastic result that is due to the increased confidence levels among businesses, especially since the re-election of the majority Hodgman Liberal Government.
Tasmanian businesses remain among the most confident in the nation according to the latest NAB business survey and since the 2014 election more than 11,000 jobs have been created.
Building and construction is one of the star performers and today I visited Island Block and Paving at Breadalbane who are seeing firsthand the benefits of our strong economy.
In the past two years alone, Island Block and Paving have opened an additional retail site in Hobart, completed a $500,000 manufacturing plant upgrade to increase capacity, and have hired a number of additional staff to keep up with demand.
As the demand for their products continues to grow, Island Block and Paving are well placed to expand even further, which is a great thing for the economy and for job-seekers.
Our long-term plan is all about creating jobs and improving the lives of all Tasmanians, and the growth of Tasmanian businesses is yet another tick of approval that our plan is working.
