A majority Liberal Government will commit up to $3.4 million to invest in public infrastructure necessary for the Craggy Ridge eco-tourism development to proceed, creating 1000 new jobs for Tasmanians.
Jobs will be the number one priority of a majority Liberal government so we are very pleased to support a project which will deliver 600 jobs during construction, and another 400 jobs ongoing once complete.
The Liberals’ investment will assist with upgrading public access roads and the re-routing of transmissions lines enabling the site to be fully utilised.
Overlooking the Tamar Valley, Craggy Ridge is a $103 million world class Eco-tourism development covering 140 acres.
The development is estimated to create in excess of $600-$800 million new spending in the coming decade which will flow to the Tasmanian economy.
In addition to a luxury lodge and cabins, Craggy Ridge will include a 25 acre wildlife sanctuary, the southern hemisphere’s longest air walk, the world’s largest interactive climbing wall, an interpretation centre, state of the art conference centre, whisky distillery, day spa, lakeside pavilion and vineyard.
Eco-tourism is the fastest growing sector within the tourism and hospitality industries.
Only the Liberals have a long term Plan to create jobs and support our tourism and hospitality sectors.
Funding will come from the nearly $500 million in savings we have already identified.
