Important step towards the new Dove Lake viewing shelter

23 August 2019

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government welcomes the unanimous endorsement of the Kentish Council for the new Dove Lake viewing shelter Development Application.

Cradle Mountain is one of Tasmania’s iconic visitor destinations and a major visitor draw card for the North West. We understand as visitation to our parks increases, so must our investment in parks infrastructure.

A design concept for the new Dove Lake viewing shelter was released for public comment in September 2018, and following extensive public consultation, community feedback has been used to refine the Development Application.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is committed to transforming Cradle Mountain into a truly world-class experience for locals and visitors who come to see it from around the world.

That’s why we are investing $21.8 million to enhance the visitor infrastructure as part of the Cradle Mountain Master Plan, including the new gateway visitor centre, car parking, as well as the viewing facilities at Dove Lake.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government understands we must protect what is special about our way of life so it can continue to be enjoyed by future generations, and our Plan ensures a world class, sustainable experience for all who are drawn to Cradle Mountain.
